Boxing Day: a poem…
I promise this will be the only poem in this blog.
Christmas came and Christmas went
With toys and bows and money spent
And nothing left but Christmas lint
Underneath the Christmas tree.
Paper packing, strings, and ties
Broken bits of wrong surprise
Turkey, ham, green beans, and pies
Remain from the Christmas spree.
Boxing Day let’s get to work
Packing up the Christmas quirk
It’s another Christmas perk
Giving leftovers for free.
Or returning things unliked
Blobs and knobs and things with spikes
Even things like brand new bikes
For store credit at no fee.
If you feel you’ve had enough
Just box up the Christmas stuff
Getting rid of all that fluff
Will clear up your eyes to see.
New Years now is on the way
Lurking after Christmas Day
Waiting yet for you to say
A resolution’s decree.
Pack it up and pack it good
Storing gifts, decor, and food
Making way for a new mood
With Boxing Day as the key!
